If Dr. Volpe recommends nutritional and herbal supplements for
a patient, it is with the goal of restoring proper biochemical
function. Treatment plans may include natural biochemicals such
as vitamins, minerals, herbs and amino acids.
Every human being has a unique biochemistry resulting in
very diverse nutritional needs. Some are suited for a vegetarian
diet and others feel and perform better when they include
meat on a daily basis. Because of genetic differences in the
way our bodies process foods, most of us are quite deficient
in certain nutrients and have an overload of others.
Our office stocks high-quality nutritional supplements (vs.
store-quality, where formulations and potencies – some
therapeutic strengths are often available only to professionals
– vary widely). They are selected from more than sixty
different manufacturers and chosen by Dr.Volpe on the basis of consistent quality and potency.
This ensures that each product (Co-Q 10, Glucosamine
Chondroitin, Evening Primrose Oil, etc.) is the very best
available of its type. All are free of allergens, filler and
binders and are specifically formulated for therapeutic use.
We also offer custom-blended organic herbal formulas.
Dr. Volpe does not purchase or recommend products from any
multi-level marketing companies.
In prescribing nutritional supplements or herbal formulas,
Dr. Volpe takes a biochemical approach. He focuses not on
the medical model of a pill for a symptom (i.e. St. John’s
wort for depression), but on the patient’s overall biochemical
profile as reflected in their history, initial evaluation
and lab test results. Nutritional supplements are part of
a synergistic “building block” plan that may include
dietary and lifestyle changes, making the patient a full partner
in restoring their health. The goal is to provide the body
with the tools it needs to detoxify, heal and strengthen itself.
Thus, several supplements that complement each other as well
as the rest of the plan may be recommended in order to achieve
the body’s optimal biochemical balance.
Supplement plans are regularly updated based on the patient’s
progress, with a long-term goal of using as few as possible
on an ongoing basis.
